Das Museum Binnenschifffahrt widmet sich der Geschichte der Binnenschifffahrt in Berlin und Deutschland. In Kooperation mit der Stiftung Museumshafen sowie weiteren Vereinen und Stiftungen entsteht ein Ensemble historischer Schiffe mit musealem Charakter.

Vorgesehen sind Liegeplätze für sieben restaurierte Schiffe, die teilweise öffentlich begehbar sein werden. Im Laderaum eines Frachtschiffs wird eine Dauerausstellung zur Binnenschifffahrt inszeniert – ergänzt durch wechselnde Themenpräsentationen an Bord und auf den Decks der Schiffe.

Zwei weitere Schiffe werden zu Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsstätten umgestaltet, die Platz für rund 200 Personen bietet. So entsteht ein Ort, an dem Industriegeschichte, Handwerkskultur und maritime Technikgeschichte auf anschauliche Weise erfahrbar werden.

The Museum of Inland Water Transport is dedicated to the history of inland shipping in Berlin and Germany. In cooperation with the Stiftung Museumshafen and other associations and foundations, an ensemble of historic ships with a museum character is taking shape.

Berths are planned for seven restored ships, some of which will be open to the public. In the hold of a cargo ship, a permanent exhibition on inland shipping will be staged – complemented by changing themed presentations on board and on the decks of the ships.

Two further ships will be converted into exhibition and event venues with space for around 200 people. The result is a place where industrial history, craft culture and maritime engineering history can be experienced in a vivid way.
